The Mahindra Thar is popular among enthusiasts for its stock off-road ability and the ease with which it can be modified. Now, the company is offering a ride-on version of the SUV to raise the same enthusiasm in children too. The ride-on is suitable for children in the 3-7 year age group.
The Thar battery-operated ride-on is priced at Rs 17,900 and is exclusively available for Thar owners only. The design is almost an exact replica of the Thar but scaled down to a rideable toy-car size. It is available in either Red or Napoli Black colours. Highlights include working front and rear lights, plastic wheels with chrome wheel caps, rubber strip on the rear wheels for better grip, authentic looking ORVMs etc.
Inside, the plastic seat features a safety belt, working doors, plastic replica steering wheel, accelerator and brake foot pedals, a gear stick for forward and reverse, start/stop push button, a working radio with USB input and speakers, and a faux instrument cluster.
While the car can be controlled by the child sitting inside, it also comes with a remote control to let an adult take control. The Thar ride-on is powered by an electric motor driving the rear wheels - it has a top speed of around 4kmph, says Mahindra. With a full charge, the Thar ride-on has a run time of around 1-1.5hours. Once depleted, a two-pin wall charger (offered with the toy) can recharge the battery in 10-12 hours.
Interested Thar owners can book the ride-on online or by visiting the nearest Mahindra dealership.
