Earlier, we had reported that Mahindra will be upgrading its portfolio to meet BS6 emission norms. Apart from the 1.2-litre diesel engine found in the KUV100, the rest of its models will receive the update. The first BS6-compliant Mahindra will be the XUV300 turbo-petrol that’s expected to be launched by October this year. Soon after that, the carmaker is expected to launch the BS6 TUV300. Now, a test mule of the same was spied testing in the outskirts of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
The TUV300 comes with a sole 1.5-litre mHAWK diesel engine that develops 101PS of power and 240Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox drives the rear wheels of the TUV300. This engine currently complies with BS4 norms and will be upgraded to meet the upcoming regulations.
Earlier in May, Mahindra had given the TUV300 a mid-life facelift. As part of the update, the carmaker had axed the TUV300’s lower-spec 85PS tune as well as the AMT gearbox that was available before. The carmaker also added some crucial features like rear parking sensors and static bending lights. The BS6 model could also bring back the AMT option.
Standard features in the TUV300 include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB and AUX-In, in-built GPS navigation, steering-mounted audio controls, manual air-con and remote locking. Other features include power windows, rear wash and wipe, tilt-adjustable steering wheel and follow-me-home headlamps.
The TUV300 comes with safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts for the second row, rear parking sensors with camera, driver and co-driver seatbelt warning and high-speed alert system.

Prices for the TUV300 currently start from Rs 8.43 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs 10.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect the prices to go up by Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 when the TUV300 receives the BS6 update.
While the TUV300 measures under four metres in length, it doesn’t have any direct competition thanks to its body-on-frame chassis and rear wheel drive layout.
