Mahindra has finally launched the much-awaited AMT variant of the XUV300 in India. The sub-4m SUV now gets a 6-speed AMT gearbox sourced from Magneti Marelli, which is available in the W8 and W8(O) diesel variants only. Also, unlike the manual variant, which is available in eight colour schemes, the XUV300AMT can be had in three shades only -- Red Rage, Aqua Marine and Pearl White. Both the variants carry a premium of up to Rs 70,000 over the manual counterparts. Here are the XUV300 diesel’s variant wise prices:

The XUV300 AMT is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces a class-leading 116PS of power and 300Nm of torque. Apart from the 6-speed AMT, this engine can also be had with a 6-speed MT. Unfortunately, the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine cannot be had with the two-pedal setup. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine churns out 111PS and 200Nm of torque, and can be had with a 6-speed MT only.

Talking about features, the XUV300 already comes loaded with segment-firsts like dual-zone climate control, front parking sensors, steering modes and heated ORVMs. The XUV300 also gets a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry and push-button start, cruise control, sunroof and more.

It is also loaded with safety features like seven airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors with rear camera, ESP and disc brakes on all four wheels. Driver and co-driver seat belt warning and high speed alert are also on offer to make it compliant with AIS 145 Safety Norms.

Apart from the introduction of the AMT gearbox, Mahindra is also working on upgrading its engines to BS6 standards and the first BS6-complaint SUV to roll out from the assembly line will be the XUV300 petrol. Mahindra will also introduce a more powerful 1.2-litre Turbo GDI petrol engine in the SUV later this year.

The Mahindra XUV300 AMT will rival other AMT-equipped diesel SUVs like the Vitara Brezza and the Nexon. If you want to know how the new XUV300 AMT performs in the real world, check out our first drive review here.
