Mahindra XUV300 Diesel-AMT Spied; Set To Launch Later This Year (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Mahindra will launch the AMT equipped XUV later this month.

Mahindra’s XUV300 is a great all-rounder. It comes with a set of powerful engines, plenty of features and is even quite spacious given its size. However, there was one thing missing in the package, and that was the option of an automatic gearbox. Now, that’s about to change as Mahindra is all set to launch an AMT version of the XUV300 in the country soon.

The sub-4 metre SUV was recently spied with an AMT gearbox on the mid-spec W6 variant and according to our sources, the carmaker will introduce the AMT on both petrol and diesel versions of the SUV in the second half of 2019. Thanks to previous spy images, we already know that the top-spec W8 (O) variant will get the new AMT option. Mahindra might price the new AMT variants at a premium of around Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 over their corresponding manual variants.

The XUV300 comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The test mule spied recently was seen sporting a 6-speed AMT gearbox, which is likely to have been sourced from Magneti Marelli. The only other diesel cars in the segment to sport an automatic gearbox are the Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
