Looks like movie associations are the flavour of the season. We recently saw Mahindra two-wheelers tie up with the upcoming movie 'Mirzya', and we have yet another one now, from India's largest automaker, no less. Maruti Suzuki has launched a special edition for the Alto 800 and the Alto K10 in association with the biopic 'MS Dhoni – The Untold Story'.
Captain cool himself unveiled the two cars, which have a few goodies over the standard fare. The special edition is available with the LXi trim on the Alto 800 and LXi and VXi on the K10. Differences on the exterior are minimal and include a set of decals with Dhoni's signature and a rear spoiler. Maruti will be offering a merchandise kit inspired by the cricketer as well.
The interiors are available in two colour combinations - black and silver, and red and blue. A few accessories, such as a steering cover, ambient lighting, door sill guards and carpets are being offered as well. There's also a bar graph display for the parking sensors, an 'interior styling kit in carbon colour' and 'MS Dhoni #7' seat covers in the list. Additionally, the Alto 800 gets a 1-DIN music system that supports MP3, USB and AUX inputs.
Expectedly, there are absolutely no changes to the mechanicals of either car. So, both Marutis continue to feature their tried and tested 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre motors like before.
The special edition exclusive goodies add Rs 12,777 to the cost of the Alto 800, and Rs 16,777 to the Alto K10. The vehicles will be made available across Maruti Suzuki dealerships from the first week of October. Oh, lest we forget, Maruti has floated a contest on Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #DrivenByPassion. Winners stand a chance to meet the cricketer as well as the cast of the movie.
