Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Petrol Variant To Be Launched By Early 2017

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a compact SUV that was launched in March this year. However, when this car was launched, it only came with a diesel unit. According to customers, the Brezza proved its worth as a compact SUV on the roads and so they started demanding for the petrol variant too. The head of the team saw that there are a lot of people who will opt for the petrol variant and, hence, has confirmed the manufacturing of this version. Now, this car will make its debut by early 2017 and not in the upcoming festive season as earlier reports indicated.

Despite being offered only in diesel version until now, bookings for the Vitara Brezza has already crossed the 1 lakh mark. The waiting period for the SUV is between six to nine months. Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle(UV) sales saw a steep growth of 151.3 per cent in July thanks largely to the Vitara Brezza.

Specifications of the Vitara Brezza’s upcoming petrol engine is still sketchy. However, reports indicate that this car might come with two possible engines, one being a 1.0-litre Boosterjet or 1.2-litre K series. The 1.0-litre Boosterjet will be a turbo-powered engine capable of producing 111PS of power and churning out 170Nm of peak torque that will be transmitted to the front wheel via either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This motor is also to be seen under the hood of the Baleno RS which is going to debut in the upcoming festive season. On the other hand, the 1.2-litre K-series engine from Maruti Suzuki is a tried- and-tested mill capable of producing 83PS of power and 115Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki will soon clarify which engine out of these two will be used.

The petrol variant of the Vitara Brezza is expected to launch sometime in March next year when the existing compact SUV completes a year.
