In the phased absence of the Maruti 800, the country’s biggest manufacturer has lost one of its key volume cars at the bottom end of the market. The boffins at the Maruti Suzuki R&D are busy building a new car on the 800 platform to compete with the Nano and bring back the volumes that went missing after its trusty hatchback had to leave. Expect a small displacement 2-cylinder version of the K-series engine to power this, and true Kei car mannerisms.
