The Lamborghini Aventador has undergone a makeover. This V12 Lamborghini flagship has now become more aerodynamic, powerful, techie and, not to mention, hot. Lamborghini has stuck to the aggressive lines on the Aventador and has in fact made them more prominent in the S. Also, every component that has been redesigned has been tweaked for a specific purpose, and not just for the car to look sexy. Also, the Aventador S becomes the first ever Lamborghini to be equipped with a four-wheel steering system.
Powering the Lamborghini Aventador S is a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine with an output of 740PS and 690Nm. As a reference, the Aventador SV makes 750PS with the same amount of torque as the Aventador S. Mated to this engine is a seven-speed gearbox which sends this power to all the four wheels. As a result, the car can launch itself from 0 to 100kmph in 2.9 seconds and go all the way to 350kmph.
All of the above, paired to the four-wheel steering – which turns the rear wheels in an opposite direction to the front wheels so as to achieve a shorter turning radius when the car is slow, and in the same direction as the front wheels at high speeds for better cornering ability – makes this Aventador a very serious supercar. Also, apart from the usual driving modes – STRADA, SPORT and CORSA, the Aventador S further has an 'EGO' mode in which the driver can customise the steering, suspension and engine individually.
Visual updates to the Aventador S include an entirely new front bumper, rear bumper, diffusers, air intakes near the engine bay, and the tri-exhaust tailpipes placed in the centre of the rear profile. Also, this new exhaust system is 20 per cent lighter than the older one. Inside, the cabin remains identical, apart from the instrument cluster, which is a new TFT display with new graphics. The deliveries for this € 281.555,00 (approx Rs 1.9 crore) supercar will begin in spring 2017 and the India launch will take place in April next year. Expect a price of around Rs 5.5-6.0 crore for the Indian market.
