Subsequent to announcement in March with regards to the local assembly of the S-Class, Mercedes-Benz has now confirmed that the S-Class will also be made available in diesel. The German car manufacturer will launch the diesel variant of its flagship sedan on June 5th.

The S350 CDI will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine that produces 257PS at 3,600rpm and a whopping 620Nm of torque between 1,600-2,400rpm. Mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission S-Class can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 6.8 seconds and attain a top whack of 250kmph.

The S-Class is as much about pampering yourself as it is about performance. The flagship luxury sedan gets it design cues from the now defunct Maybach brand. Packed with features like LED high performance headlamps and tail lamps, brake pad wear indicator, electric parking break with auto release when moving off, massage seats, 24 speaker 1540 Watt Burmester 3D surround sound system, the S-Class has been built to pamper, and the diesel will be no different. Safety features will include, side airbags up front as well as at the back and window airbags aside from the standard three-point seatbelt.

The Petrol S500 is currently available at a price of Rs 1.36 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) so one can expect its diesel variant to be priced slight lower, around the Rs 1 crore bracket.
