Shine, now the second Hector variant, gets more kit in comparison albeit at a price premium.
The Super came equipped with features such as a 10.4-inch touchscreen, rear AC vents, remote keyless entry, and cruise control.
Hector retails from Rs 13.50 lakh to Rs 19.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Just over a month has passed since MG Motor India added the Shine variant to the Hector SUV, and the carmaker has rejigged the Hector’s variant lineup again. Only this time, the carmaker has discontinued the second-to-base Super variant in the Hector. This leaves the SUV down to four trims: Style, Shine, Smart and Sharp.
The mid-spec Super was priced from Rs 14.17 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and was offered in petrol, mild-hybrid and diesel guises. It came with features like a 3.5-inch MID, LED headlights and tail lights, remote keyless entry, a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear AC vents and cruise control. Safety kit included front and rear parking sensors with a reverse parking camera, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and ESP.
The recently launched Shine, which now takes its place as the second variant in the Hector lineup, gets additional kit such as chrome-finished door handles, keyless entry using smart key, push-button start/stop, electric parking brake with auto-hold, a telescopic steering, and a single-pane sunroof over the Super. Of course all this comes at a premium ranging from Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000 over the Super.

There is one downside: the Shine doesn’t get the turbo-petrol mild-hybrid option that was present in the Super. Other than this, it can be specced with either a 143PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol or a 170PS 2-litre diesel engine, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The petrol mill also gets an optional CVT.
The MG Hector continues to retail from Rs 13.50 lakh to Rs 19.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It takes on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and the Tata Harrier.
