MG Motor India is all set to launch the mid-spec Shine trim in the Hector on August 12, 2021. This new trim will sit between Super and Smart trims. Dealers have already begun bookings for a token of Rs 50,000. Ahead of its introduction, here’s some exclusive info about this trim in five detailed points:
Additional Features
Based on the second-from-base Super, the MG Hector Shine will come with six additional features:
Single-pane sunroof (new in Hector)
Keyless entry using smart key
Push button start
Electric parking brake with auto hold
Telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel
Chrome finished door handles
The only gripe is that the last five features are exclusive to the petrol-CVT powertrain, which brings us to the next point.
Available Powertrain Options
The MG Hector Shine will be offered with both the 143PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and the 170PS 2-litre diesel engine. As standard, both units will be provided with a 6-speed manual transmission while the turbo-petrol engine can also be specced with a CVT. The turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain and dual-clutch automatic transmission have been given a miss here.
One New Colour
MG will be taking this opportunity to introduce one new colour for the Hector: Havana Grey. Save for the base-spec Style, this new shade will be available in all trims.
Currently, the Hector is offered in six monotone colours: Starry Sky Blue, Starry Black, Burgundy Red, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, and Candy White. The last two can be opted with a dual-tone option with a black-coloured roof.
A Predefined Accessory Pack
MG will offer the Hector Shine with a predefined accessory pack (for a premium) that’s exclusive to this new trim. The additional features include:
Leather seat cover
Wireless phone charger
Air purifier
Rear window sunshades
Steering wheel leather wrap
3D floor mats
Expected Price And Rivals
Considering the feature updates, we expect the Hector Shine to command a premium of around Rs 60,000 over the Super trim it’s based on. It will lock horns with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and the Tata Harrier (which recently got a sunroof in mid-spec trims).
