Takes inspiration from the Plus 8 race cars of the 90s, with a front splitter, resculpted wheel arches, and a reworked rear end.
It will be powered by the standard model’s N62 4.8-litre V8 engine by BMW, with an expected bump up in performance.
Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Will be limited to nine units only, with production beginning in the summer of 2021.
Morgan Motor Company is one of the oldest carmakers in the world, dating back to 1910. They’ve also dabbled in motorsport, and to honor that, the company has teased the Morgan Plus 8 GTR.
Morgan Motor Company claims that this is a ‘gloves off’ special edition of the Morgan 8 Plus. With its race-ready design, it sure looks the part. Up front, you get 6-inch spotlights with branded covers under the headlights, flanked by a front splitter. Other enhancements include five-spoke centre-lock wheels, resculpted wheel arches, and a revised rear end. All these changes are inspired by the Morgan Plus 8 race cars of the 90s.
Under the hood, the Plus 8 GTR will retain the standard model’s BMW N62 4.8-litre V8 engine. While performance figures are yet to be revealed, the older unit (discontinued in 2018) produced 362PS. So, expect Morgan to beef up the motor for the Plus 8 GTR. The engine will be paired with either a six-speed manual or a ZF six-speed automatic gearbox.
The Plus 8 GTR will be a rare gem, limited to only nine units. Production is set to begin within a few months. Customers will be invited to personalise their bespoke Plus 8 GTRs, in the presence of the design team.
