The Kawasaki ER-6n is the cheapest middle-weight motorcycle offering on sale in the Indian market. The ER-6n is the street bike version of the Kawasaki Ninja 650 sports tourer. Despite pricing the bike competitively, the ER-6n has failed to make an impact with respect to sales. The biggest reason for this can be contributed to its bland styling and the lack of any bright colour options. Performance bike owners in India want their motorcycle to stand apart in crowd and an attention grabber which the Kawasaki offering isn’t.
Although it’s a very competent motorcycle with its performance and the ease of use the bike offers it just couldn’t make a name for itself in the Indian market. Given the sluggish sales, a dealer based in Mumbai is offering discount on the naked motorcycle. Kawasaki dealer based in Andheri East is offering discount of Rs 25,000 on the motorcycle. The Kawasaki ER-6n normally retails for Rs 5,36,951 (ex-showroom Mumbai) but the dealer is offering the bike at Rs 5,12,877. The offer is only valid in the Andheri dealership as it seems a strategy by the dealer to clear his inventory.
ZigWheels contacted other Kawasaki dealerships in Mumbai and they denied offering any discounts. Same was the case with Kawasaki dealers in other cities who denied any kind of discount on the Kawasaki ER-6n. Like the Ninja 650, the Kawasaki ER-6n comes strapped with a 649cc, liquid-cooled twin cylinder mill producing peak power of 72.1PS at 8,500rpm and 64Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The parallel twin transmits power to the rear-wheel via a six-speed transmission. Braking duties is taken care of by dual semi-floating, petal disc brakes at front and single 220mm petal disc brakes at rear while ABS has been given a miss to keep cost low.
