Within a nation that is waking up to the romance of the automobile all over again rests a metropolis that controls and directs the flow of all things economic. No wonder then that when India is quoted to be a rising automotive superpower – one that car and bike makers from all over the world are making a beeline for - Mumbai can never be left out of the equation. And why should it, with its rich and deep automotive culture and its unabashed passion for wheels that has nurtured the country’s most ardent car and bike lovers. For a city that loves its cars and bikes with almost the same vigour that it celebrates life, it is only apt that a festival be held to honour this spirit. That festival which brings enthusiasts and creators under the same roof will be in town once again from the 20th to the 23rd of Januray, 2011 at the MMRDA Ground, Bandra Kurla Complex. It’s time for the 2011 Mumbai International Motor Show (MIMS), powered by ZigWheels.
This year around, things are bigger, better and more exciting than ever before – exactly in tune with how large our own automotive industry has grown since the show last came to town in 2009. The 2011 MIMS will showcase some of the largest brand names of the automotive world which include Volkswagen, Skoda, Mercedes, Volvo, BMW, Piaggio, Harley Davidson, Honda Siel Motors, Honda Motorcycles, Ford, Mitsubishi, General Motors, Fiat, Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, Royal Enfield and many more. That being said, MIMS is not just about manufacturers displaying their cars and bikes. The idea is to create a 360-degree ‘infotainment’ event that revolves around automobiles, where the distance between the eager and curious enthusiast and the eminent creator of the vehicle is reduced to just one step. Apart from cars and bikes, this year MIMS will also feature various interesting and innovative ideas to hook the enthusiast; a 4x4 test drive track, a simulator zone that will provide the thrills and experiences of cars and bikes, a breath-taking super cross event and also a specially dedicated vintage and concept cars section.
India manufactures almost over 11 million 2 and 4-wheeled vehicles and exports about 1.5 million every year. The automobile industry continues to be an engine of growth for the world and India is no exception, this is quite evident from the fact that almost every month, interesting, innovative and cutting edge vehicles are being launched in the country. Keeping these facts in mind, MIMS is an endeavour to create a unique platform for the automotive industry to exhibit some of its best creations and take them right up to the people who care about them with an undying passion.
Got that same passion? A burning curiosity about cars and bikes? Or just a passing interest and the will to spend some quality time around quality machines? You know the dates and the place, so if the answer to any of these is in the affirmative, just arrive and be a part of this shared love for automobiles, of this celebration which is the 2011 Mumbai International Motor Show.
