New 2016 Toyota Fortuner Global Unveil on July 17

India-bound new-generation Toyota Fortuner that is expected to be unveiled at the 2016 Auti Expo will make its global debut on July 17. Some photos of the car have already leaked on the internet a few months ago giving us a rough idea as to how the car will look like. 

The new Fortuner’s design will be in sync with the brand’s current design language that is offered on all its products internationally. Up front the 2016 Toyota Fortuner gets a sharper headlight unit that sandwiches a chrome twin slat grille. The bumper too has been remoulded and now houses large chrome finished fog lamps. 

The 2016 Toyota Fortuner will be based on a new ladder frame that the popular SUV will share with the Hilux and the Innova. The new-generation Fortuner is also expected to get a stiffer chassis that will give it better handling capabilities. In fact, it will also share its interiors with the Hilux. 

The new Fortuner will sport two new diesel engines – a 2.4-litre turbocharged unit in place of the current 2.4-litre mill, and a 2.8-litre powerplant that is expected to replace the current 3.0-litre engine. The 2.4-litre motor makes 150PS while the bigger engine produces power of 175 horses. 

Scheduled to be launched next year, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner will take on the likes of the new Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Hyundai SantaFe. The current generation Toyota Fortuner starts at Rs 24.17 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and we expect the new generation model to be priced marginally higher.
