A few days back we reported that the New 2016 Toyota Fortuner will make its global debut on July 17. But a week prior to the official unveil, un-camouflaged images of the car are already making their rounds on the internet. This new Toyota Fortuner is expected to make its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo.

Leaked images of the new 2016 Fortuner reveal its design language to be in sync with the current crop of Toyota’s off-roaders, although, unlike the previous generation model, this new one will not look like the Hilux pickup from the front.

Towards the front, the new Fortuner gets a twin-slat chrome grille with sleeker and sharper looking projector headlights on either side of it. The front bumper has been given a new shape as well and comes with circular fog lamps that are placed inside chrome housing. In profile the 2016 Fortuner has wider fenders. The old gun metal alloy wheels have been given the boot and have been replaced by 12-spoke diamond-cut ones. At the back the taillights too have a edgy design in line with the way the headlight looks.

From the pictures that have been leaked, we also get a sneak peek of the interior and the dashboard. The new Fortuner comes with an all-black dash but sports silver accents around the centre console and the AC vents. In terms of equipment, it will come with a large touch-screen infotainment system, automatic climate control and steering mounted controls. The variant that was spotted was evidently the top-end one that will come with beige leather upholstery.

The 2016 Fortuner will get the new generations GD series engine options. The 2.5-litre oil burner will be replaced by a 2.4-litre turbocharged mill that makes 150PS and the 3.0-litre unit will be substituted by the 2.8-litre powerplant that makes 175 horses. These same engine options are expected to make their way on the new Innova as well.

The Fortuner will make its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo and when it is launched next year, it will go against the likes of the upcoming Chevrolet Trailblazer, the new Ford Endeavour and the Hyundai SantaFe.
