After a slew of launches this year, what does the Bavarian brand have in store for next year for India?

Despite the pandemic, BMW Motorrad launched quite a few interesting motorcycles this year, including the BMW R 18, F 900 R, F 900 XR and the BS6 avatars of G 310 R and G 310 GS. Here’s what the German brand has in store for us for 2021:

2021 BMW S 1000 R
Expected launch: First quarter 2021
Expected Price: Rs. 17.70 lakh

Since its birth in 2014, this is the most comprehensive update the iconic streetfighter has received. Lot of its updates are shared with the current-gen S 1000 RR, including the 999cc in-line four powerhouse churning out 165PS and 114Nm.  And yeah, like the faired sibling, the S 1000 R drops the love-it-or-hate-it asymmetrical headlight. We expect the bike to grace our shores in the first quarter of 2021 and will likely be priced at Rs 17.70 lakh. To know more about the bike, read this story.

BMW R18 Transcontinental and Classic
Expected Launch: Third quarter of 2021
Expected Price: Rs. 21 lakh
Following the launch of the R18 in September this year, BMW unveiled the R18 Classic. The new variant is expected to launch in India in the third quarter of 2021 and could be priced at Rs 21 lakh. The Classic gets a 16-inch front wheel instead of the 19-inch unit on the standard R18. Other distinguishing elements are the huge windshield, auxiliary LED headlamp, a pillion seat and saddlebags. Find out more details about the big bore boxer cruiser here.
The R18 Classic is also likely to be accompanied by the third variant of the R18 family, the Transcontinental. The German bagger gets a bigger fuel tank, different seat, exhaust and a different steering angle. It also features the new 10.25-inch infotainment system and will probably get the radar tech for adaptive cruise control from the new R 1250 RT.
