The second-gen Kia Seltos has been spied testing in South Korea.
It is expected to be revealed sometime in 2025.
It gets a revamped boxy design including an upright fascia, updated lighting elements and new alloys.
The compact SUV is likely to get bigger in size and get a longer wheelbase as well.
Current prices of the Seltos range from Rs 10.9 lakh to Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
The second-generation Kia Seltos was recently spied testing for the first time, and the spy shots gave us more than just details of its new design. The latest spy shots that have surfaced online hint that the compact SUV might not remain as compact as it is now. It seems to have gained a slightly increased length and wheelbase than the outgoing model, and there is a reason for that.
Kia has recently announced their upcoming SUV, the Syros, which will be positioned between the Sonet and the Seltos. To keep a noticeable size difference between the Seltos and the Syros, the carmaker can increase the Seltos’ length, and push it closer to the mid-size SUV segment.
Now, while not much has been given away by the spy images of the car under wraps, here are all the details we could decipher from the sourced images:
The spy images suggest that Kia has given the new Seltos a design treatment similar to its recently launched models. The front fascia adopts a more upright stance, giving it a boxier appearance, while the vertically-placed headlights and L-shaped LED DRLs seem to have taken inspiration from the EV9 and Carnival.
The overall silhouette of the SUV appears largely similar, except that the test mule seems slightly longer than the current version, likely to ensure that it maintains a dimensional gap from the upcoming Syros. The alloy wheels are expected to remain at 17 inches, but will feature a new design. Familiar roof rails in a blacked-out finish are also visible.
The rear looks redesigned as well, with longer vertical tail lamps, which appear to be connected like in the current model. The rear bumper also seems to be chunkier.
The interiors haven’t been revealed yet, but the new Seltos is expected to get a redesigned dashboard, in line with the carmaker’s new design language. Also, if it is moving to a segment above, we can also expect more premium elements in the cabin.
In terms of features, it can get a bigger touchscreen, but most of the features are expected to be carried forward from the current model. These include a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats and a Bose sound system.
It can also retain the safety kit of the current model which comes with 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold and level-2 ADAS features.
The powertrain of the new-gen Seltos is also under covers. It should carry forward its existing 1.5-litre petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel engine options.
While there is no confirmed launch timeline for the new Seltos yet, it is likely to be unveiled sometime in 2025, with a launch following shortly after. That said, the model is expected to carry a price increase from its current range of Rs 10.9 lakh to Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
