Kawasaki Z650 Review: Cool As Cucumber

Kawasaki has teased a new retro motorcycle with a video on YouTube, with the title “Retrovolution is coming.”
So, what could it be? A new W800, another special edition of the Z900RS (like the recently unveiled Z900RS SE with premium components) or perhaps, an all-new bike? Well, we think it’s the latter and it could be called the Z650RS. Here’s why.
The Z900RS is quite famous internationally for its blend of old-school appeal and modern tech, but it can be a little intimidating for newer riders. And the perfect way to solve this is by slapping in a smaller twin-cylinder 650cc engine drawn from Kawasaki’s highly praised Z650 and the Ninja 650.
Moreover, there were some strong rumours recently suggesting that Kawasaki is working on a mid-capacity retro bike, thus adding weight to our speculation.
If this does turn out to be the Z650RS, expect it to hit Indian shores soon after its global unveiling. After all, Indian customers love retro motorcycles and Kawasaki has a habit of nailing the prices of its 650cc offerings. We reckon the Z650RS would sell like hot cakes if it's priced somewhere between the BS6 Z650 and the Ninja 650.
The Z650RS would also give Kawasaki a second wind as the Z900RS didn’t quite make an impression here, as it was a CBU unit, priced almost twice as much as the Z900.
