It will make its official debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. At a glance, the new Sorento gets a major revision in design. Here’s more about it:

Changes on the outside include it getting a traditional tiger nose grille, coupled with a sleeker set of LED headlamps. It also receives a more aggressive front bumper along with tiger eye LED DRLs. At the sides, wheel arches give the SUV a rugged stance. Changes at the rear include vertically stacked LED tail lamps and Sorento lettering on the tailgate, Speaking of size, the carmaker claims that the new Sorento is longer in wheelbase, with the front and rear overhangs being shortened.

As is the case with the exteriors, Kia has given an overhaul on the inside as well. Changes include a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, coupled with an all-digital instrument cluster that resembles modern Mercedes setups. Other highlights include ambient lighting and trapezoid shaped air vents. More details are yet to be revealed, but Kia claims that the next-gen Sorento will get a variety of progressive connectivity, driver assist and infotainment tech on offer.

Powertrain figures are yet to be revealed, but the carmaker has confirmed a hybrid variant. The current Sorento is powered by either a 2.4-litre four cylinder and a 3.3-litre V6 mill paired to a 6-speed automatic and 8-speed automatic gearbox. It also offered with 2WD and 2WD options.

Expect the 2021 Sorento to hit international showrooms by the end of 2020. While nothing has been confirmed for a India launch, we could expect it by 2021. If it does make it to India, it is likely to take on the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson.
