Heidfeld praised the hypercar’s cornering, acceleration and power despite the prototype running at 80 per cent power.
Four electric motors deliver a combined 1900PS and 2300Nm with a sub-2 second 0-100kmph sprint time and a 350kmph top speed.
It also featured aggressive aero, Brembo CCMR carbon-ceramic brakes, five drive modes, and forged aluminium wheels.
Deliveries of the hypercar will commence by summer 2021 and are limited to 150 units only.
Nick Heidfeld, Automobili Pininfarina’s test and development driver and ex-Formula One and Formula E racer, has been heavily involved in the development of the upcoming Pininfarina Battista all-electric hypercar since the project’s inception in 2019. So far, Heidfeld has only tested the Battaisa protype in virtual form. Well now, he’s finally gotten a taste of the electric hypercar in the real world for the first time at a race track at the Nardò Technical Center in Italy. And his first impressions are pretty positive.
Despite running the hypercar at around 80 per cent power, Heidfeld praised the Battista’s power and acceleration, claiming it’s ‘on another level to even the world’s fastest road cars.’ Heidfeld also complemented the hypercar’s cornering prowess around the corners of Nardò.
The Battista will be powered by four electric motors and juiced up by a 120kWh battery, to make a combined 1900PS and 2300Nm, that is distributed to all four wheels. This helps the Battista sprint from standstill to 100kmph in less than 2 seconds with a top speed of 350kmph. It’s also got five drive modes to play with: Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa and Carattere.
Other technical wizardry in the hypercar include racing-inspired Brembo CCMR carbon-ceramic brakes, torque vectoring, and a bonkers aero kit. Two tyre combinations have been used during its development with the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R being the preferred tyres wrapped around forged aluminium wheels. There’s also some creature comforts in the form of an infotainment system featuring connected technology and over-the-air updates (OTA).
Deliveries of the Pininfarina Battista are set to commence by summer 2021, with only 150 units being hand made in Cambiano, Italy. Each unit will cost a sky high USD 3.13 million.
