It was earlier expected to arrive by Diwali 2021 but has now been delayed
  • It is likely to be called the C3.

  • Leaked images reveal design inspirations from the bigger C5 Aircross SUV.

  • Expected to utilise a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

  • Highly localised model will be manufactured in Tamil Nadu.

The launch of Citroen’s sub-4m SUV has now been delayed to 2022. Like its older sibling, the C5 Aircross, the French carmaker’s second offering will also not launch at its initial expected time of arrival (Diwali 2021).

Citroen’s latest offering is likely to be called C3 and will be heavily localised, something which the C5 Aircross lacked. Recent leaked images of a scale model have revealed a large grille, heavy body cladding, and a split headlamp setup bearing quite a resemblance to the bigger C5 Aircross.

The C3 has been out in the field being tested for quite some time now. It will be manufactured in Tamil Nadu. We expect it to utilise a locally manufactured 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with both manual and automatic transmission options.

Expect the C3 to come loaded to the gills with features in order to compete with a stacked segment, which includes the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Tata Nexon.
