Official: Lamborghini Aventador S To Launch On March 3

Bologna's latest thoroughbred, the Aventador S will be launched in India on March 3. The updated bull god gets some aerodynamic tweaks and an extra helping of power. Now who can say no to that?

We already sampled Lamborghini's latest around a race track, and came back grinning ear to ear. Not without reason, though. The Aventador S is propelled by the same 6.5-litre V12 as the 'regular' Aventador. However, instead of 700PS of power, it gets 740PS, but the torque output remains identical at 690Nm. Top whack is rated at a mind-boggling 350kmph, whereas 0-100kmph is dealt with in just 2.9 seconds. For the record, that's just 0.1 seconds slower than the mental Aventador SV.

The Italians have also added an 'EGO' mode to the Aventador S' drive mode selector, which lets the driver set up the steering, suspension and engine as he likes. The other big update is that, for the first time ever, the big Lambo features four-wheel steering. Depending on speed, the rear wheels turn in the same or opposite direction as the front wheels, virtually shortening/lengthening the wheelbase.

Other updates include a redesigned front and rear section, which aid aerodynamics. There's 130 per cent more downforce at the front, thanks to the redesigned bumper; whereas the rear offers up to 400 per cent more, coupled with the active spoiler in 'low drag' mode. The interiors get an exclusive 'S-trim', and there's a new LCD instrument cluster, replete with new graphics.

Prices for the Aventador S are expected to start around the Rs 5.5 crore mark, considering the standard coupe retails for Rs 5.08 crore (ex-showroom) at the moment. That's before you ring up Lamborghini's 'Ad Personam' personalisation division to spec your car, or pay for registration or insurance.
