New Look Vespas Are Here And They Still Cost A Bomb

Piaggio has introduced its Vespa and Aprilia brands in Sri Lanka. Vespa is known for its legacy of making timeless design language which always looks appealing while Aprilia has a racing heritage. According to Piaggio, Sri Lanka has a youth culture that aspires to own and experience premium international performance brands. After their successful stint in the Indian market, Vespa and Aprilia will now be sold in the Sri Lankan market.
The Vespa is offered with two engine variants. The Vespa VXL125, its 125cc motor develops 10PS @ 7500rpm and a peak torque of 10.6Nm @ 6000rpm. Vespa VXL 150 - Its 150cc motor develops 11.6PS @ 7000rpm and a peak torque of 11.5Nm @ 5500rpm. Both the variants get the same monocoque type body construction. Suspension duties are handled by single side arm suspension with anti-dive characteristics at the front and dual-effect hydraulic suspension at the rear. Braking is done by 200mm disc at the front and 140mm drum at the rear. The Vespa is shod with 110/70 R11 tubeless tyre at the front and 120/70 R10 tubeless tyre at the rear. The Aprilia SR150 is offered in two variants – the standard and Race variant. The Race variant is slightly quicker-accelerating and gets race graphics compared to the standard variant. The scooter is powered with a 154.8cc engine which develops 10.6PS @ 6750rpm and a peak torque of 11.4Nm @ 5000rpm. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. Braking is done by 200mm disc rotor with twin-piston caliper at the front and 140mm drum brake at the rear. It is shod with tubeless 120/70 R14 tyres both at the front and the back.
