Volvo’s performance wing Polestar has tweaked the electronics of the V40 T4 hatchback to generate more power and torque from the 1.6 litre four cylinder petrol engine. The Polestar tune-up has bumped up power by 20PS and torque by 45Nm with performance output for the V40 T4 now rated at 202PS of power and 285Nm of torque.
The T4 is the middle of the line variant of the Volvo V40. Polestar felt that the V40 T4 could be made more fun to drive with the power upgrade. Polestar also states that the power hike has made the V40 T4 safer in situations where more power is needed such as overtaking. Another plus of the power upgrade is that it has not effected fuel efficiency.
"Volvo V40 is one of Volvo's most fun cars to drive with a really good chassis. That is why it feels great that we can offer the customers a optimisation that gives a bit of extra driving pleasure," said Robert Dahlgren, who has been part of the development of the new Polestar optimisation and races for Volvo Polestar Racing in the STCC
The Polestar performance upgrade is also available for the S60 sedan, V60 sportswagon, V70 stationwagon and the S80 luxury sedan. Owners can take their Volvo T models to Volvo service centres and avail of the power upgrade.
