Launch will happen in early 2021, probably in January.
It may be quite some time before the Nissan Magnite goes on sale, but the carmaker has announced that the sub-4 metre SUV will debut in production form on October 21. Thankfully, earlier spy shots and official test images of the production-spec Magnite reveal plenty of bold design traits retained from the concept.
Some notable design bits include a large single-piece front grille, sculpted hood, sharp headlights, and ‘L’ shaped LED DRLs. The rear features wrap-around split LED tail lamps, and faux skid plates. Even the alloy wheel design is largely similar to the concept.
We’re yet to have a glimpse of the Magnite’s cabin, but the concept showcased a minimalistic layout. It’ll also be loaded with features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, 360-degree camera and connected car tech. Other bits could include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, and maybe even a sunroof. Around four airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control are expected to be among the safety kit on offer.
Under the hood, the Magnite is likely to be powered by two engine options: a ~100PS 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the Triber’s 72PS 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. A standard manual gearbox and a CVT option for the turbo-petrol motor could be the gearbox options on offer.
The Nissan Magnite is slated for an early 2021 launch, probably around January. Expect prices to start from Rs 6 lakh onwards. It will go up against the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
