It isn’t easy describing what the Trezor looks like. It’s a proper sensory overload. The low-slung coupe shouts “look at me!” and dare we say, it deserves all the attention it can possibly get. The Trezor builds on the design theme that Renault first showcased back in 2010 in the form of the DeZir.
The bodywork (made entirely out of carbon-fibre) has some intricate detailing that really catches the eye. The metallic finish on the body, the honeycomb detailing on the front air-intake and that sexy looking red-stained glass tie the design together beautifully. Proportions are that of a classic GT, with a long bonnet and a short tail. Rounding things off is the glass hatch - that lifts upwards. We’re sure the Trezor would be at home in a Batman movie.
The cabin, or rather the cockpit of the Trezor, is an amalgamation of handcrafted wood and leather, all finished in different shades of red. The wooden dashboard houses the luggage compartment with tailor-made trunks which, in true classic style, are held in place by leather straps. The seats are upholstered in leather, sport a smooth texture and are finished in a shade of deep red. The dashboard is less of a board and more like a sleek line.
The rectangular steering wheel and the large touchscreen, which consists of the instrument cluster and the infotainment system on a single gigantic screen, seem like a single unit rather than two separate entities. There are virtually no physical buttons on the dash or the steering. Even the steering-mounted controls have been done away with and replaced with touchscreens.
The Trezor packs the same engine used by the Renault e.dams team that has won the Formula E championship twice. The Terzor makes 350PS of max power and 380Nm of peak torque which can propel the lightweight concept to 100kmph from standstill in under 4 seconds. Plus, just like the Formula E car, the Trezor too uses RESS (Rechargeable Energy Storage System) which enables it to recover energy from braking forces.
The beautiful form of the Trezor is optimised for aerodynamic efficiency. Plus, the two battery packs placed at either ends of the car give it a low centre of gravity and perfect weight distribution which adds to the driving dynamics of the car. Also on display at the Renault pavilion were the Capture, Kwid Marvel editions and the Duster.
