Earlier this year, in May, Royal Enfield introduced the Classic 500 Pegasus which is inspired by the legendary ‘Flying Flea’ World War II military motorcycle. The cult bikemaker announced that the motorcycle would go on sale in the country on 10 July. However, due to an “overwhelming response”, the website crashed. And now, the bikemaker has announced that the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus will go on sale online again on 25 July at 4:00PM. Only 250 units have been allotted for India and are priced at Rs 2.49 lakh (on-road Mumbai).
The Classic 500 Pegasus is mechanically the same as the regular Classic 500. Limited to 1000 units (worldwide), the motorcycle features various visual aesthetic elements like brown handlebar grips, Pegasus emblem with stencilled number on the fuel tank, ‘Made Like a Gun’ decal on the battery box and a leather strap with brass buckles across the air filter. There are blacked-out bits like the silencer, rims, kickstart lever, pedals and headlight bezel which give the motorcycle a stealthy undertone. To round off the vintage look, Royal Enfield offers a set of military-style canvas panniers as standard.
For the foreign markets, the bike is available in an Olive Drab Green colour as well, apart from the brown colour variant. However, the Indian law does not permit its usage on civilian vehicles and it is reserved only for the Indian Army.
