Pros and Cons of Perak
- Looks stunning; Engine is more versatile and usable; Isn’t shy to show off its sporty handling genes
- Build quality isn’t great; Lacks modern features; Cramped riding ergonomics
As a style statement on wheels, there are no bikes in its price bracket that do the trick as well as the Jawa Perak. It is nice to ride with a more versatile engine on board. Sadly, the build quality is still not up to the mark and the cramped riding posture deters you from a great bobber experience.

The John Wick of Motorcycles
- The Jawa Perak is an absolutely stunning bobber motorcycle
- It has a powerful engine which is suitable for cruising, and the single-seat setup is all about making a style statement
-
Stunning to Admire
- Styling is the trump card of the Jawa Perak
- The dark overall look, gold accents, floating seat with integrated tail lamp, twin exhausts and the halogen headlight really add to the vintage bobber appeal of the motorcycle
- Get closer and you start to notice the blemishes of the motorcycle
- The overall fit and finish is not the best as you will notice panel gaps, exposed wires and thick welds which rob the bike of a quality feel
- The rear turn indicators seem as though they were an afterthought and do not match the vibe of the motorcycle
-
Versatility is the key
- The 334cc motor is lively and packs good amount of performance
- It completed the 0-100kmph sprint in 11.45 seconds
- The gearing ratios are tall which allows for a usable commuting experience and can sustain speed of up to 100-110 kmph all day long
- Vibrations are present above 110kmph which become quite bothersome
- The tall gear ratios and lack of top-end performance means the motor does not like to be pushed and takes quite some time to reach its 140kmph top-speed
-
A sporty twist
- The Perak loves to be hustled around the corners, is light on its feet and holds the line pretty well
- The cornering clearance is also quite good for a bobber and the footpegs will not scrape until you push the motorcycle hard
- The long wheelbase, heavy weight, long steering geometry and wider tyres means it is not the sportiest of the motorcycles
-
A hard affair
- The firm suspension allows the Perak to hold its line in the corners which builds the rider’s confidence
- The motorcycle feels settled at higher speeds as the the suspension flattens out bumps
- The Perak’s suspension is quite firm
- It will get annoying at slow speeds as you will feel every single undulation on the road
- The quick rebound setting of the monoshock will through you around should you hit a bump at city speeds
-
Not everyone’s cup of tea
- The seat height is quite accessible at 750mm making the motorcycle very easy to handle and maneuver at slow speeds
- The riding posture is pretty upright with a straight handlebar which gives you a commanding riding position
- The footpegs are located directly below the rider’s seat and are set pretty high up causing a knees up riding posture which can be uncomfortable for tall riders
- The seat angle is horizontal which causes the rider to slide around when braking and accelerating
- Since it’s a single-seat bobber, there’s no question of carrying a pillion rider, or even luggage
-
Proper Oldschool
- Gets an analogue speedometer with a small digital inset to show other basic information
- Gets dual-channel ABS to improve the safety quotient
- The feature list is pretty small and lacks basic connectivity features
- The small digital inset on the speedometer is a bit difficult to read
-
Should you buy the Jawa Perak?
- The Jawa Perak is a good bobber motorcycle, it’s got the right looks, is a good commuter and cruiser and is priced well. But keep in mind that with it being a bobber, it lacks the practicality of having a pillion and the suspension is quite stiff. If you are someone who does not care much about practicality and wants a motorcycle which matches your mojo, look no further than the Perak.
