The Indian two-wheeler industry is witnessing a frantic push for electric mobility. Revolt Motors, which launched India’s first electric motorcycle back in 2019, seems to be working on an upcoming affordable electric bike likely to be dubbed the RV1.
The RV1 will replace the Revolt RV300 that was originally launched as a lower-performance, lower-range, and more importantly, lower-price alternative to the company’s flagship electric motorcycle, the RV400. We expect that the upcoming RV1 will even manage to undercut the RV300; it could be priced on par with the 110cc petrol-powered bikes (on-road), around Rs 80,000.
We believe Revolt will be able to hit this price point as the company plans on producing the RV1 as a completely localised product, as opposed to the RV300 and RV400, which had some components imported from China. Expect the RV1 to enter production by early-2022. Much like the company’s current offerings, the RV1 will be manufactured at the Manesar-based plant.
In related news, pizza giant Domino’s has procured the remaining RV300s from Revolt Motors. These bikes will be customised and used as delivery vehicles to reduce the company’s carbon footprint and keep delivery costs in check in the wake of skyrocketing petrol prices.
