Royal Enfield Classic 500 And Classic 350 Get ABS For Select Colour Variants

Although there has been no official announcement, Royal Enfield dealerships across the country are gearing up to offer ABS options of a few colour models of their famed Classic series of motorcycles. The safety net now comes as standard in the Classic 500’s Desert Storm and Chrome colour options as well as in the Classic 350’s Gunmetal Grey option.

RE has been speccing their motorcycles with ABS slowly, with the likes of the Himalayan, Classic 500 Stealth Black and Classic 350 Signals receiving the tech in the past few months. We expect the company to continue to enable this technology on all of their motorcycles prior to the April 1, 2019, deadline set by the government.

As the name suggests, the Classic series of motorcycles have been Royal Enfield’s retro-styled machines. The Classic 350 is powered by a 346cc single-cylinder and has been the brand’s highest seller for quite some time. The Classic 500 on the other hand has been their flagship offering so far as it provides a healthy dosage of nostalgia along with decent performance. There are no visual or mechanical changes to the bikes apart from the inclusion of ABS.

While the base versions of the Classic 350 and Classic 500 miss out on the tech, we expect the models to receive the update soon enough. The Classic 350 Gunmetal Grey ABS now retails for Rs 1.53 lakh while the Classic 500 Desert Storm ABS and Classic 500 Chrome ABS can be fetched for Rs 2.03 lakh and Rs 2.10 lakh. All of these prices are ex-showroom Pune, and these bikes have been open for booking since October 23, 2018.
