Commemorating its 120th anniversary, Royal Enfield unveiled special edition variants of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 at the 2021 EICMA. The Chennai-based brand Royal Enfield had allocated 120 bikes for the Indian market (60 units of the Interceptor 650 and 60 for the Continental GT650), and as soon as the sales window opened yesterday (December 6) at 7pm, all the motorcycles were sold out within two minutes!
The sheer speed isn’t surprising, considering Royal Enfield’s brand value and the fact that the 650 twins have been the most refined, most powerful Royal Enfield bikes yet. Moreover, the anniversary edition bikes featured a variety of elements that were both aesthetically pleasing as well as showcased immense attention-to-detail. Additionally, both bikes also boasted some practical accessories, and were even offered with extended warranty schemes as standard.
Besides, this isn’t the first time Royal Enfield has sold out a special edition bike in such a short time either. Back in 2018, the company sold all 250 units of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus edition allocated for the Indian market in just 178 seconds, or just two seconds short of three minutes!
The 120th Year Anniversary Edition of the Interceptor 650 retailed at Rs 4.50 lakh whereas the Continental GT 650 retailed at Rs 4.80 lakh (both on-road, Chennai). Here’s a more detailed report on the pricing.
