Motorcycle manufacturers are getting quite innovative with their retail experience. Harley-Davidson and a few others have begun online bookings, paper processing and home delivery of their motorcycles. A few others have tried to follow suit. Interestingly, in Latvia, the Royal Enfield Concept Store delivered an Interceptor 650 in a die-cast model box.
The store created a giant die-cast model box for the actual Interceptor 650, loaded it onto a trailer and delivered it to a lucky customer. The packaging itself is quite fantastic. You get the typical feel of purchasing a die-cast model but in 1:1 size and it comes with an ‘18+ only’ age warning too. Most of the Zig boys, who are die-cast collectors and aficionados, are quite envious of the customer as they too would like to get their dream bike in a similar fashion. And this time around, maybe not throw away the box in which the model came in.
Royal Enfield was one of the first Indian two-wheelers to announce that it had exhausted all of its BS4 stock, well before the first lockdown period was announced. The company recently hiked prices of all its BS6 models with the exception of the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 by around Rs 5,000. The last price revision that took place was when the bike was updated to meet BS6 emission norms. Head here for more info.
