The Skoda Auto Volkswagen India media night event is set to take place on February 3 in New Delhi, India. At the event, all the brands from the Volkswagen Group -- Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche -- will most likely showcase one new product each that’ll hit Indian roads later in the year. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the cars that are likely to be showcased at the event, shall we?

We expect Skoda to take the wraps off the Vision IN ahead of its maiden debut at Auto Expo. The upcoming SUV will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform. Skoda has already teased the interior design, which takes influence from plenty of VW Group cars sold abroad. Further, the exterior styling could take influence from the Skoda Kamiq that has been spotted in India for a while. The Vision IN will most probably utilise a 1.0-litre TSI engine that’s likely to develop 115PS and 200Nm. It is likely to be offered with both manual and DSG transmission options. When launched, the Vision IN will lock horns with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
VW will be showcasing a midsize SUV that will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform. The upcoming SUV will borrow styling cues from the T-Cross midsize SUV that’s sold in various international markets. Just like the Vision IN, this SUV could be offered with a 1.0-litre TSI engine with both manual and DSG variants. Expect to see a concept version of the SUV at Auto Expo 2020 along with three other VW SUVs.

The 2020 A8L is expected at the media night as its India launch is slated for February. The A8L is making a comeback to India to take on the likes of the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Highlights in the 2020 Audi A8 include its aircraft-style individual rear seats, a tech laden cabin, and its minimalist no-nonsense design. The 2020 A8 will be powered by a 3.0-litre TFSI engine that develops 340PS and 500Nm. Power will be sent to four wheels via Audi’s quattro system via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Prices for the luxury sedan are expected to start from Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom).
Porsche had previously confirmed the Taycan for India. And we expect the electric sports car to be revealed at the event. The Global-spec Taycan is offered in three variants -- 4S, Turbo and Turbo S -- with the last one being the most powerful. You can read the detailed specifications of the three variants right here. Porsche is yet to confirm the variant for the India-spec Taycan and we hope it’s offered in the Turbo S guise. Prices for the Porsche Taycan are expected to start well above the Rs 1-crore mark when it hits Indian roads.
As we inch closer to the event, we expect more news from the Volkswagen Group regarding the models that will be showcased. So stay tuned to ZigWheels for updates.
