We know that Skoda India will be showcasing four cars at the Auto Expo 2020. The Vision IN sub-4m SUV concept is the most anticipated of the lot while the Karoq comes in at the second position. While we eagerly wait to catch a glimpse of the Vision IN, Skoda is busy testing the Jeep Compass rivalling Karoq on Indian roads. Spied testing yet again, here’s what you can expect:
Skoda’s SUV lineup consists of the Kodiaq, Karoq, Kamiq and the upcoming Vision IN. The Karoq slots in behind the Kodiaq rivalling the Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier. This 5-seater SUV looks like a scaled down version of its bigger brother. It is unmistakably a Skoda thanks to the family grille, headlamps and the taillamps with ‘C’ signature. Some of the design highlights from the Kodiaq have trickled down to the Karoq’s cabin. It is expected to come packed with interesting features such as all-digital cluster, connected car tech, powered front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.
We know for a fact that the Karoq is expected to be powered by a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre TSI engine in India. This engine produces 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque and will be mated to both manual and automatic transmission options. Skoda will not be offering a diesel during launch as the fate of diesel engines are a question mark with the fast approaching BS6 era.
Skoda is expected to launch the Karoq by April 2020 with a debut at the Auto Expo. We expect the prices to start from Rs 17 lakh as the Karoq is brought in a CBU (Completely Built Unit).
