The recently launched Skoda Kylaq enters a crowded segment and is already lined up against many rivals, one of them being the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Previously, we noted a handful of features that the Kylaq gets over Maruti’s sub-compact SUV – a list you can check out in one of our stories linked below.
Here in this story, we put these two rivals head-to-head and look for the differentiators that would give one an edge over the other.

Starts from Rs 7.89 lakh |
Rs 8.34 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh |
While we’ll have to wait for the full price list of the Skoda Kylaq, set to be released on December 2, the introductory starting price is Rs 45,000 more affordable compared to the Maruti Brezza. However, this gap will surely change when the brand decides to update the pricing later. The top-end price of the Kylaq should hover around a similar range as the Brezza. Moving ahead, we’ll see how the sizes of the two SUVs compare.

As seen in the table, while both the SUVs measure the same in length, the Brezza is taller and wider among the two.
The Kylaq, on the other hand, has a slightly longer wheelbase on offer which can translate to a little more cabin space. It also presents more bootspace on paper, however, that isn’t the case in real-life as the figure is obtained by measuring without the parcel tray.

The feature list for both SUVs is largely similar, except that the Kylaq offers bigger wheels, a larger infotainment system, a fully digital driver’s display, and superior front seats that are powered and ventilated. You can take a closer look at the features offered in the Kylaq but missing in the Brezza in this story.
The Brezza, however, has an edge in certain areas, such as connected car technology and a 360-degree camera.

The Skoda Kylaq, though limited to a single powertrain option – a 1-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine – produces significantly more power than the Maruti Brezza, which gets a bigger but only a naturally-aspirated petrol engine. However, this engine also comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit, which becomes an option for those looking for a lower running cost.
Both SUVs feature a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, but for manual options, the Kylaq has a 6-speed gearbox, compared to the Brezza’s 5-speed unit. However, for those prioritizing better fuel efficiency with an eco-friendly fuel option, the Kylaq may not make sense.

Concluding it all, both the SUVs should be good considerations if you are out for a sub-compact model. Now what all suits the needs, stays completely based on individual priorities and their driving needs. So, let us know in the comments, which of the two would be your pick?
