Skoda recently announced the full pricing for the Kylaq, which maxes out at Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Although its bigger sibling, the Kushaq, belongs to a higher segment, the Kylaq is seen as its smaller counterpart. And now that we have its complete pricing, we compare both Skoda SUVs to help you decide whether to choose the Kylaq or spend extra and upgrade to the Kushaq.
For a fair comparison with the Kylaq, we have picked the top-spec 1-litre turbocharged petrol variant of the Kushaq.

As seen in the table above, the price difference between both the top-specced manual transmission variants is Rs 2.74 lakh. And if you are considering the automatic gearbox choice, the price gap between the Kylaq and Kushaq increases to Rs 2.79 lakh. So, is it just about the size, or does the Kushaq truly offer more for its asking price? Let’s find out in the following sections.

Size-wise, you might have thought the Kushaq would be the clear winner, but a closer look at their dimensions reveals that the Kylaq is actually wider and taller by 23 mm and 7 mm, respectively. However, the Kushaq boasts an 85 mm longer wheelbase, thanks to its 4225 mm length.
Additionally, the Kylaq offers marginally better ground clearance and boot space, although the boot space has been measured without the parcel tray.

When it comes to features, both the Kylaq and Kushaq offer a well-equipped cabin. In fact, they are offered with a similarly sized infotainment system and digital driver's display, compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Both also provide additional niceties like powered front-row seats with ventilation and a sunroof.
The only aspect where the Kushaq's feature set stands out is its 7-speaker audio system, as opposed to the Kylaq's 6-speaker unit. Even in terms of safety, both models are evenly matched.

Under the hood, both the Kylaq and Kushaq are powered by the same 115 PS/178 Nm 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with similar manual and automatic gearbox options. Notably, the Kushaq is also offered with a more potent 150 PS/250 Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated only to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
All in all, both models cater to different segments. The Kushaq commands nearly a Rs 3 lakh price premium, primarily due to its larger size, offering better second-row space and comfort. On the other hand, the Kylaq appears to be a more worthwhile purchase when considering that the on-paper specifications are the same, save for a few very minor differences.
With its aggressive pricing, the Kylaq seems like the smarter option to go for, but it is a smaller SUV compared to the Kushaq. And if your main priority is space, especially if you have a bigger family, then the Kushaq would be the better choice between the two. But if all you want is a well-loaded car that’s also fun to drive, then you won’t go wrong with either of the two.
