The Skoda Superb Gets An Upgrade And A Price Hike For 2021 Model Year

The new features aside, a certain gizmo has become standard on all Superb variants

 

  • Prices for all variants are up by Rs 2 lakh.

  • Additions include, adaptive LED headlamps, a new steering wheel, updated infotainment system, wireless charging, Type-C USB ports, and more.

  • Virtual cockpit is now standard across all variants.

  • The sedan remains mechanically unchanged, utilising a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine.

  • The Toyota Camry Hybrid remains its sole rival in India.

The Skoda Superb  received a mid-life refresh in May 2020 with subtle styling updates and feature additions. Now, Skoda has kicked off 2021 by by lending the Superb certain more updates. As a result, the sedan has received a price hike upto Rs 2 lakh on both its Sportline and Laurin & Klement variants. Here are the revised prices:

What’s new for the Superb starts right up front, featuring new adaptive LED headlamps with DRLs,  illuminated LED eyelashes, and LED turn indicators. The adaptive headlights get city, inter-city, motorway, and rain modes. An interesting addition to the headlamps is the ‘Coming/Leaving Home’ feature. This function allows the lights to be switched on when you unlock your car with the remote control. This helps light up the way to and from your front door.

Heading inside, the Laurin & Klement variant features a new two spoke steering wheel design, whereas the Sportline gets a new three spoke flat bottom SuperSport multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifts. The other additions include an updated UI for the 8-inch touchscreen unit, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Type-C USB portsA 360-degree camera with park assist has been added to Laurin & Klement. Moreover, the virtual cockpit (digital instrument cluster), that was once exclusive to the Sportline, will now be present on all the variants.

Mechanically, the Superb remains as is -- powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that develops 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

 

As things stand, the Skoda Superb only has the Toyota Camry hybrid, to compete with. But news is that the Volkswagen Passat could make a comeback as it has been spotted testing in the country.
