German auto major Volkswagen has appointed Steffen Knapp as the new director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India. This comes in after Michael Mayer took up the role of ‘Head of Sales & Marketing’ for VW Passenger Cars - China. Knapp is expected to take charge from July this year. He is primed to drive the passenger car business in India and will report to Thierry Lespiaucq, MD, VW Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd.
Knapp has formerly held leadership positions at top brands like SEAT and Ford in different parts of Europe and has been credited with main achievements of these brands. The 48-year old holds a Degree in Managerial Economics from European Business Schoolchloß Reichartshausen (EBS), Oestrich-Winkel, Germany and American Graduate School of International Management, Arizona/USA.
The German major has already made its intentions about penetrating the Indian market clear. It recently entered the hotly contested premium SUV space with the Tiguan, reaffirming the same. The Volkswagen Tiguan offers all-weather and all-terrain driveability, flaunts an elegant exterior design, gets luxurious interiors and tough underpinnings. It is available in two variants and is priced (ex-showroom Delhi) as follows

Tiguan 2.0 TDI 4Motion Highline: Rs 31.38 lakh
