Suzuki has teased both the Gixxer 250 BS6 and the Gixxer SF 250 BS6 on its official website. The two motorcycles get a greener motor but remain cosmetically and mechanically unchanged. The updated Gixxers could be launched immediately after the lockdown. Bookings for the BS6 Gixxer 250 twins had commenced at the time of their unveiling at Auto Expo 2020 in February. Both 250cc motorcycles were to be launched earlier, however, it had to be delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The two motorcycles remain cosmetically similar to their BS4 predecessors and even get the same colour options. The Gixxer 250 BS6 will be available in two colours: Metallic Matte Black and a dual-tone Metallic Matte Silver/Metallic Matte Black. Its cousin, the Gixxer SF 250 BS6, will come in three colours: Metallic Matte Black, Metallic Matte Platinum Silver, and Metallic Triton Blue with MotoGP livery. Both motorcycles get premium features like LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, and a redesigned full-digital instrument console.

The motorcycles now get a greener 249cc oil-cooled motor. The BS6-compliant motor offers 26.5PS of power at 9300rpm and 22.2Nm at 7300rpm. Power output remains the same as the BS4 motor but peaks 300rpm higher in the rev range. Peak torque is 0.4Nm less but comes 200rpm earlier than before. The 6-speed gearbox has been carried over.
Even the underpinnings remain unchanged. Both the 250cc BS6 Gixxers continue to use a diamond-type frame with telescopic forks and a monoshock. Both get 110/70R17 front and 150/60R17 rear radial tyres. Braking is via disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
Both the BS6-compliant 250cc Gixxers are expected to be pricier than their respective BS4 predecessors by around Rs 12,000. We expect the Gixxer 250 BS6 to be priced around Rs 1.72 lakh and the faired Gixxer SF 250 around Rs 1.83 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
