What else do the BS6 motorcycles get beyond a cleaner motor?

 Gixxer SF BS6 Differences Explained

Suzuki has launched the Gixxer BS6 and Gixxer SF BS6. Both command a significant premium over their BS6 counterparts. Here’s what’s changed and what’s not in the new BS6 motorcycles.

BS6 variants see a drop in performance:

The BS6-compliant motor is cleaner now but also sees a drop in power and torque. Both the Gixxer BS6 and Gixxer SF BS6 employ the same 155cc air-cooled and fuel-injected motor which now delivers 13.6PS and 13.8Nm. This is a drop of 0.5PS and 0.2Nm over the BS4 Gixxer/Gixxer SF. How much does this power deficit affect performance in the real world? The answers will be revealed after a proper road test review

Kerb weight has increased:

The new Gixxer BS6 and Gixxer SF BS6 now weigh 141kg and 148kg respectively. These kerb weights are higher than the BS4 Gixxer and BS4 Gixxer SF by 1kg and 2kg respectively. The increase in weight can be attributed to the addition of a catalytic converter to improve emissions.

Pricing has shot up:

The new Gixxer BS6 now costs Rs 1,11,900 while the Gixxer SF BS6 retails for Rs 1,21,900. That’s a Rs 11,688 and Rs 12,030 hike in price over their BS4 counterparts. That’s a lot of money for just cleaner emissions. Suzuki has also launched the Gixxer SF BS6 MotoGP edition at Rs 1,22,900.

The design remains unchanged:

Other than the cleaner motor, the Gixxer SF remains cosmetically unchanged. The bodywork, livery and even features like the LED headlamp, LED tail lamp and digital instrument console remain the same.

There are no changes in mechanicals either:

Both the Gixxer BS6 and Gixxer SF BS6 continue to use the previous frame, telescopic forks and monoshock. The front and rear disc brake setup with single-channel ABS remains unchanged as well. So yes, the BS6 and BS4 Gixxer range are virtually identical except for the cleaner BS6 motor and increased weight.
