Suzuki Motorcycle has launched the Intruder BS6 at Rs 1.2 lakh. That’s a premium of around Rs 12,000 over the BS4 Intruder FI variant. Suzuki had showcased the Intruder BS6 at Auto Expo 2020 and other than a cleaner BS6-compliant motor, it remains cosmetically and mechanically unchanged.
The updated 155cc air-cooled and fuel-injected motor it shares with the Gixxer BS6 now gets a catalytic convertor to help clear BS6 emission norms. It now delivers 13.6PS at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm at 6000rpm. That’s a drop of 1.2PS and 0.2Nm over its BS4 predecessor. The Intruder BS6 continues to use a 5-speed gearbox.
On the features front, the Intruder continues to use the same halogen headlamp, LED tail lamp and bulb-type turn indicators. Even the digital instrument console remains the same as the first generation Suzuki Gixxer 150. It has a low 740mm seat height and a 11-litre fuel tank. A revised exhaust setup means kerb weight has increased by 4kg.
Even the underpinnings are the same telescopic fork and monoshock setup. Braking is via disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard fitment. It uses tubeless 100/80-17 front and 140/60R17 rear tyres.
The price hike of Rs 12,000 for nothing more than just a greener motor is hard to justify, especially when you consider that its BS4 predecessor already came with fuel injection. We have reached out to Suzuki for clarity and will update this article when we get an answer from them. The new Intruder BS6 has only one competitor: the Bajaj Avenger 220.
