Gets the same engine and chassis setup as the Gixxer but is a far cry from it in the styling department

There was much speculation about what new product Suzuki will bring to the Indian market. But after the image leak last week, it was made apparent that the new product would most likely be the Japanese bikemaker’s most affordable cruiser yet. The Intruder 150 has been launched in India at a price of Rs 98,340, ex-showroom Delhi.

The Intruder 150 is the smallest cruiser motorcycle to bear the ‘Intruder’ name. It is powered by the same 155cc air-cooled, carbureted single-cylinder engine that also powers the Gixxer. It produces 14.1PS of max power at 8000rpm and 14Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission driving the rear wheel. Even the frame is the same diamond type as the Gixxer and the suspension has been carried over as well. It gets a 41mm telescopic setup up front and a mid-mounted, preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. The whole bike sits on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 100-section MRF Nylogrip Zapper up front and a 140-section Zapper at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a single disc setup both at the front and rear, with a single-channel ABS in the front.

In terms of styling the smallest Intruder looks quite striking. The shape of the headlamp is inspired by its larger and more powerful siblings and houses a halogen headlamp along with LED DRLs. There is a small flyscreen for wind deflection as well and the instrument cluster is an all digital affair. The tank looks curvy and muscular while the super flared engine cowls give it the impression of being a much larger and powerful bike than it is. Underneath, however, it features a fuel tank with an 11-litre capacity. In true cruiser fashion though, the seat is quite low to the ground and the pegs are slightly fore-set to provide a more relaxed seating position. The pillion seat is small and gets a single-piece grabrail and an LED tail lamp at the rear. The tail section, though, is quite reminiscent of Suzuki’s flagship sport tourer, the Hayabusa. The twin super chiseled exhaust mufflers do look a tad overdone though.
