Suzuki has launched the Jimny Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) in the United Kingdom. The LCV is basically Suzuki’s stop-go solution to keep the Jimny rolling in the UK as the standard four-seater version was discontinued due to stricter emission standards. It will be available in limited numbers in 2021, so we suggest you to be quick if you have your eyes on one.
Priced at £16,796 excluding VAT (Rs 17.29 lakh approx*), the Jimny LCV is essentially a Jimny Lite (a new base variant recently introduced in Australia) without the rear seats. Behind the front seats is a large 863 litre boot (33 more than the standard model with the seats folded down), complete with a partition between the cargo space and cabin.
Even all the niceties of the top-spec model have been deleted, including climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system, alloy wheels, and projector headlamps. In place of that, the LCV comes with 15-inch steel wheels, halogen headlamps, manual air-con, a 2-DIN infotainment system, and cruise control.

Also, thumbs up to Suzuki for retaining all the safety features from the standard model, including Dual Sensor Brake Support. It applies the brakes automatically to avoid a collision. And in case of a mishap, the SUV’s infotainment will automatically send a message to support services. Other notable safety kits include hill hold and hill descent control.
The Jimny LCV might have been stripped out cosmetically. But underneath that skin is the same capable ladder frame and four-wheel-drive hardware to keep off-road enthusiasts happy. So it comes with the same 102PS 1.5-litre petrol engine coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission. A low range gearbox allows you to tackle the rough stuff when the going gets difficult.
In India, the Jimny will be launched in a five-door avatar and should reach showrooms by 2022. It’s likely to be priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in the league of the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
