Suzuki V-Strom 650XT

Suzuki initially unveiled the V-Strom 650XT, an adventure tourer that is quite popular internationally, in India at the Auto Expo 2018. While its bigger sibling, the V-Strom 1000, didn’t click much in the market, Suzuki aims to gain a stronger foothold in the market, with the V-Strom 650XT.

We were quite excited by the sight of the V-Strom 650XT at the Auto Expo and were really keen on its entry into the Indian market. Our sources have now confirmed that the Suzuki V-Strom 650XT will be launched in the country in the coming two months. Happy times for adventure enthusiasts then as the competition in the segment is growing, which means more options to choose from.

Suzuki V-Strom 650XT

The Suzuki V-Strom 650XT shares a lot of its design with its elder sibling, the V-Strom 1000. Internationally, the V-Strom 650 comes in two variants: the standard road-biased version and the V-Strom 650XT, an off-road ready version. The standard V-Strom 650 receives lighter cast aluminium wheels with Bridgestone Battle Wing Tyres, whereas the 650XT gets aluminium rims with stainless-steel wire spokes and tubeless Bridgestone Battlax Adventure tyres.

Powering the V-Strom 650XT is a 645cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke V-twin engine that is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Peak power output of 71PS is produced at 8800rpm and 62.3Nm of torque comes in at 6500rpm.

The suspension includes 43mm telescopic forks up front with 150mm of travel, while the rear gets a monoshock with adjustable rebound and preload. Braking is managed by ABS equipped 310mm dual discs up front and a 260mm rear disc.

Our sources have also confirmed that the V-Strom 650XT will come via the CKD route, as is the case with the Suzuki GSX-S750 and the Suzuki Hayabusa. So, expect it to be priced in the Rs 6 lakh to 7 lakh range. After launch, it will compete against the Kawasaki Versys 650.
