Update: Tata H5X Might Be Called Tata Harrier
More Details On: Tata Harrier
1. Tata revealed its all-new SUV concept, the H5X, at the Auto Expo 2018. It’s sharp lines and aggressive looks made it an immediate star at the biennial auto show.
2. Now, you might think that this is just a concept and the production version is going look nowhere near this. But, we have confirmation from Tata insiders that the final car will carry forward 80 per cent of the design elements from the concept.
3. The H5X is expected to launch towards the end of this year.
4. By the looks of it, the Tata H5X-based SUV will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson.
5. The H5X-based SUV will be the first Tata to be based on the Impact 2.0 design language.
6. Expect it to be priced between Rs 10-15 lakh.
7. The bulging wheel arches make the H5X look quite muscular.
8. Even from the rear, the H5X looks muscular thanks to sharp creases complimented by a big spoiler and skid plate.
9. From the rear, H5X looks tapered from the top while the wheel arches give it a prominent stance.
10. The partial floating roof looks great courtesy of the rear windscreen and the side windows linked via a gloss black panel.
11. The sheer size of the SUV is made evident when viewed from the rear three-quarter angle.
12. The long bonnet and the sloping roofline give the H5X a sporty look.
13. The H5X concept features a front bumper which is dominated by the fog lamp cluster. Expect the production-spec SUV to sport similar design traits as well.
14. Powering the SUV will be the 2.0-litre Fiat-sourced MultiJetII diesel engine that also poweres the Compass. However, expect Tata to offer the motor in a different state of tune.
15. Even the design of the ORVMs look stunning! The H5X is a proper head-turner.
16. The big wheels with low profile rubber add to the H5X's X-factor. Sadly, these will not make it to the production model. However, Tata could retain the design of the alloys.
17. The rear windscreen is a little slim on the concept. Expect it to be a bit larger and lot more practical on the production model.
18. The door handles feature touch sensitive lock/unlock buttons. This feature is likely to be carried over to the production model.
19. The Impact 2.0 design language makes the H5X look mean and intimidating.
20. The connected taillamps have a variety of patterns on the concept. These could be replaced with conventional units on the production SUV.
21. The cabin features a minimalistic design with wood and a large display panel. Though the wood will be replaced by plastics, the floating display will most likely be retained.
22. The touch-sensitive buttons on the centre console will be replaced by conventional ones, but the design will remain close to the one seen on the concept.
23. The protruding AC vents too could be a part of the production SUV.
24. The H5X is based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s ‘L550’ platform. Tata, however, has decided to call it the ‘Omega ARC’.
