Tata Hexa Will Come With An AMT Option

The Hexa has been doing the round on the internet for a while now with images from both the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and the 2016 Auto Expo. The former event showcased the Hexa concept, which later transformed into a slightly different avatar. This avatar was put forward to the public during the Auto Expo of 2016 in Delhi.

The launch date for the Hexa is not yet confirmed. But it is now known that the Hexa will come with an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). On the engine front, it will borrow the 2.2-litre diesel motor from its sibling Aria, churning out 154PS and 400Nm of torque. Tata Motors however has mentioned that the engine could be tuned differently to the rest of the fleet using the same engine setup. Other features expected on the Hexa include a four-wheel drive option and a multi-terrain mode inspired from the Land Rover's terrain response system. Safety features like ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) and airbags are likely to be standard on all variants.

Tata Motors is also working on a 1.9-litre motor which can be used in states such as Delhi and Kerela, where their respective Governments have banned the use of a diesel engine of 2000cc or more. The smaller engine will make it's way to mass production sometime next year. Tata Motors is not taking any chance with the Hexa and will try to tick as many boxes as possible under the customer's list of expectations.
