Tata is all geared up for its first launch in the New Year with the Xenon Yodha. The pick-up truck, which will be launched tomorrow, January 3, 2017, is the updated version of the Xenon XT. So if you’re fancying buying the Xenon Yodha awed by those full-page ads in newspapers featuring Akshay Kumar in a moustache, here’s the dampener: the pickup is available for purchase only for commercial vehicle license holders.
Coming to the differences between the Xenon Yodha and Xenon XT, the changes are mostly cosmetic and are clearly meant to increase the pick-up’s appeal. Going by pictures, the Xenon Yodha appears to sport new headlamps, a revised grille, and tweaked front and rear bumpers. The Xenon Yodha will also get different alloy wheels. On the inside, expect changes to the dashboard, upholstery and infotainment unit. As far as the engine is concerned, the Xenon Yodha is expected to borrow the Safari Storme’s Varicor 400 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel motor, though we aren’t sure if it’ll put out the same power and torque figures as well. What is also being expected is the pairing of the engine with a six-speed manual transmission just as on the Safari Storme. Besides, the Xenon Yodha could also come with optional all-wheel drive, just as in the Xenon Crew Cabin Luxury 4x4.
Upon launch, the Xenon Yodha will square off against the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway. As per reports, the Xenon Yodha would be the second Tata vehicle to be offered to the Indian Armed Forces after the Safari Storme. Stay tuned to ZigWheels for more details and pricing information on the Xenon Yodha tomorrow.
