Mark your calendars, the new Wrangler will debut on November 29
2018 Jeep Wrangler

Jeep has previewed the all-new Wrangler a whole 29 days before its official unveiling at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. What Jeep hasn’t done is say what is exactly new about the ‘new’ Wrangler. The press release says the usual: this is better, modern but not far removed from the original, gets better engines, is safer, has advanced equipment and is, of course, better off-road.

Jeep’s traditional design cues are of course there: the 7 vertical slat ‘keystone’ grille remains, and the circular headlights merge into the outer slats now. The headlamps themselves are larger and now get integrated projector lights. The windshield still folds forward but is apparently more convenient to fold than before. In the American market at least, the Jeep Wrangler will be continued to offer with a dozen door, roof and windshield styles.

2018 Jeep Wrangler

Jeep has released only three photos of the 2018 Wrangler, for now. The first one is the upcoming Wrangler Unlimited, the successor to the model available in India. On the face of it, the Jeep Wrangler looks like a facelift of the current model. Apart from the new grille and headlights, the 2018 Wrangler now gets fender-mounted LED DRLs and new fog lamps with chrome surround on the front bumper.

At the side, the gap between the wheel arches and the tyres has gone up. There are new alloy wheel designs for both the Unlimited and Rubicon models. A new air vent has been added just behind the front fender, which is an interesting design addition to the Wrangler. The front windshield folds down as before but the A-pillar does not fold with it, which not only makes it easier to fold the windshield (as it not as heavy as before) but also adds a bit of safety during open-air driving.

2018 Jeep Wrangler

Jeep has not released any photos showing the rear of the Wrangler but we know that it will get a proper square tail lamp, reminiscent of the jerrycan taillamps of yore.

More details and images of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler are expected in the run-up to its official reveal at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.
