After a rollercoaster couple of months, the sales figures from June show a strong rebound for the automotive industry. The month of May 2021 saw a major dip in sales, due to the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing pandemic. However, things are much better now, and even in comparison to the previous year as well. Let’s take a look:

Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata have maintained their spots in the top three. However, Maruti Suzuki has taken a comfortable lead at the top with almost three times the sales of second-placed Hyundai. Skoda-Volkswagen and Nissan have fallen out of the top ten after featuring in the list in May. The two new entries consist of Ford and Toyota. Toyota has recorded 8,798 sales in June after just 707 in May, whereas Ford has recorded 4.936 sales versus just 766 in May.
Overall, every entry in the list has shown a positive growth, both in month-on-month and year-on-year comparisons. Toyota’s strong recovery has resulted in the highest MoM growth at 1144.4%. List leader Maruti Suzuki has shown a 142.4% growth since last year and 277.7% growth over May.
Lockdown restrictions easing in most states has resulted in an improvement over the month of May when the situation was still grim.
